Textbook Developments

To help the student mastery learning and to handle the student difficulty by using the English version textbooks the  FMIPA has supported a new textbooks for pre-and in-service students to provide LPTK students with enough references in Indonesian.

There are two types of textbooks, the common textbooks and the individual textbooks.

Example of TextBooks available at JICA-IMSTEP

There are several stages to develop common textbooks. Each department of the three universities, Indonesia University of Education, State University of Malang and State University of Yogyakarta invite the faculty members to write a textbooks by submitting textbook outline.

Syllabi and Curriculum

Based on school survey done at beginning of this project, teaching staffs at F (P) MIPA of three participating universities have reviewed and revised syllabi for pre- and in-service teacher training program to be more relevant with needs. Each department of participating universities distributed the revised syllabi to teaching staffs and students for references. Following syllabi revising, the project has conducted monitoring the appropriateness of revised syllabi for both pre-and in-service teachers training program since FY 2000/2001 and this activity is continued until FY 2002/2003.

Syllabi and Curriculum produced by the 3 Universities

The monitoring activity includes development of instrument for monitoring, selection of courses to be monitored, and implementation of monitoring. Questionnaires were distributed to lecturers and students to collect data. Each department in three universities (UPI, UNY, UM) has monitored syllabi. The monitoring results become feedback for updating the syllabi especially course content to make it more relevance.

TEACHING MATERIAL

Counterparts in three universities (UPI, UNY, UM) will develop a teaching materials both transparencies and computer based teaching materials to improve student understanding and to help students to mastery the course content. Developed teaching materials will be stored on Video CD to be used by lecturer in teaching activities or students as self-tutorial facilities.

PROTOTYPE

In addition, counterparts have developed other type of teaching materials, such as prototype of equipment. For example, micro scale of organic apparatus, so that it reduces chemical waste to save environment. Beginning of this year, faculty members and schoolteachers developed low cost apparatus as teaching materials that tried out on piloting activity at schools. For example, Microorganic Kit.
