Laboratory facilities play an important role in science and math teaching to improve student understanding on natural phenomena. To improve the experimental and teaching practice in three universities (UPI, UNY, UM), the government of Japan provided science and mathematics equipment in
FY 2000/2001 and in FY 2001/2002 through Grant Aid. In addition, PTTC (Project Type of Technical Cooperation) has provided 3 participating universities with equipment and laboratory supplies since 1999.
Faculty members who are in charge in laboratory activity translated the manuals on equipment usage into Indonesian, so that student can operate the equipment easily. The F (P) MIPAs of three universities (UPI, UNY, and UM) has conducted workshops on equipment usage and maintenance of equipment. Faculty members and lab technicians involved in the peer-coaching workshop. In addition, related faculty members in three universities have revised instruction manuals for experimental and teaching practice by accommodating new equipment.
